Chelsea have made some important transfers this summer to help the first team – but things in the youth teams have been even more busy. You can consider Carney Chukwuemeka and Omari Hutchinson as senior signings if you want – but they’re still both 18. Today they added another brilliant name to the youth roster – Tyler Dibling. The Southampton prodigy has decided to step up to the country’s top youth team after shining with the Saints. The teenager scored a famous hattrick for the Southampton youth team, and has trained with their senior side on multiple occasions. He had 9 goal appearances in 22 U18 league appearances last season, which bodes well. Of course he’s only 16, so he’s not yet on the verge of the first team like some of our other young singings this summer. But give him a year or two and a good loan, and he might yet turn out to be the best of them.

  Chelsea look to not only be signing new players for the here and now this summer, but also planning and signing players for the future. The club are working on signing a number of top young rising stars, having already added both Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina to the ranks, although Slonina is staying on loan with Chicago Fire until January. But it is clear that they are building for the future, and especially in the midfield. This is probably because of the uncertainties surrounding many of their current midfielders, namely Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, who are now both into the final year of their contracts. And according to  Si & Dan Talk Chelsea , both players look unlikely to sign new contract extensions and both are still open to leaving this window. This is probably why we are seeing Chelsea pushing so hard to sign Frenkie De Jong right now.
