The 27-year-old has established himself as one of Guardiola’s most crucial players since moving from Monaco in 2017, displaying his versatility as City has dominated English football.

Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva of Manchester City has authorized his agency to pursue a summer transfer to Barcelona.

Silva’s contract is up in the summer of 2025, but the player has told Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, that he wants to leave to begin a new chapter in his career.

However, considering their present financial problems, the Catalan giants would have to pay at least £86 million for his services, which might prove to be an impossible challenge.

The Portuguese midfielder has 48 goals and 50 assists in 249 appearances for the Manchester club, earning four Premier League championships in five seasons.

Despite the player’s expressed desire to depart, City is sticking to its value of the player. While Barca is probably unable to now pay the midfielder, other players may be leaving the Nou Camp this summer.

The agreement will probably depend on Manchester United, City’s bitter rival, being successful in luring Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford.

The Dutch midfielder has long been a favorite of United, and Erik ten Hag has made finding a replacement for the fallen giants his top priority.

The club has ‘no intention’ of selling the Dutch international, according to Blaugrana President Joan Laporta, but if he wants to continue with the LaLiga team, he probably needs to accept a wage reduction.

Barca’s greatest chance to raise some much-needed cash given their current financial situation is through De Jong, but the money might be used to rapidly bankroll a move for Silva.

Raphinha, a Brazilian attacker for Leeds, is also a target for Barcelona, who reportedly made a £51 million offer to be paid in £17.2 million installments.

In five years at City, Silva has won four Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups, an FA Cup and two Community Shields, and was part of the City side that lost to Chelsea in the Final of the 2021 Champions League.
